THIRSK RACECOURSE 3-05 Race Date 22/07/16 | Horse Racing

THIRSK RACECOURSE FORM

Mulwith

Mulwith (IRE) is from the David Barron and would appear to be a talented sort and looks to have an above average chance here at Thirsk

Some say recent form is paramount and for those of you that do then this could be one of the ones on your short list, it is talented and has commendable run in which it finished 3rd at Ripon (Gb) not so long back over today’s distance.

This runner is a Gelding which means that it is currently enjoying a praiseworthy set of stats, being out of the sire by the name Kodiac (GB) means recent stats show a 16% strike when runners are a 2yo.

Capable of putting in a superior run here and while this one is not at the very top it does have some praiseworthy form to its name which means it would at least be worthy candidate for a short list.

Alicante Dawn

Alicante Dawn (GB) is a 2yo from the Bryan Smart stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 6f race which taking part here at Thirsk.

The overall form for Alicante Dawn (GB) shows that there was a race on the 22/06/2016 at Carlisle (Gb) when finishing 1st that the same piece of headgear was fitted, although I feel that the result on that day was more of what you would call a typical or regular type of an event.

Looking at the race type and here we see it’s a Flat and with only average or suitable recent stats for today’s jockey in this type of event it appears to have moderate claims here.

With some middle of the road performances and generally indifferent form this ones chances are modest and there are a number of entrants which look better suited.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Below Average

Springforth

Springforth (GB) is a 2yo from the Richard Fahey stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

Some horses can handle carrying large loads while other can’t so if we can find an excellent recent run where there were similar weights were involved it would be an valuable extra bonus and in this case we need to look no further than its outing at Catterick (Gb) when placed 1st.

The breeding side of things shows that Mayson (GB) is the sire and when its progeny have run recently in Handicap races there is a first rate 33% strike rate.

The conclusion for this runner is that it could safely be added to any short list and could very well be the top selection to land the first prize here.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Above Average

Percy Toplis

Percy Toplis (GB) is a 2yo from the Kevin Ryan stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 6f race which taking part here at Thirsk.

Another runner who’s form does not seem to be good enough for this race and the only good news would be its finishing position in a race that took place at Pontefract (Gb) when it carried 09-03 to finish 3rd. This is a similar sort of weight that it is set to carry today so could possible run a nice race.

The results for Flat races show a below average 5% strike rate when the sires offspring have precipitated in these type of events.

This runners overall form looks to be below par for a race like this but it could possible be worth an each way provided that it had longish odds.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Average

Kilbaha Lady

Kilbaha Lady (IRE) is a 2yo from the Nigel Tinkler stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 6f race which taking part here at Thirsk.

Good recent form is what we are after in a race like this but with Kilbaha Lady (IRE) this does not look to be the case, in fact its form looks rather discouraging, only spark of light would be that it did fill the 2nd spot when wearing the same piece of headgear.

The overall form for Kilbaha Lady (IRE) looks to be unproductive or insufficient for a race like this and there are plenty of other runners to choose from.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Above Average

Kahrab

Kahrab (IRE) is a 2yo from the Mark Johnston stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 6f race which taking part here at Thirsk.

A tolerable yet undistinguished runner who’s form when racing with around this weight may not be perfect and an example would be when it competed at Musselburgh (Gb) on the 29/04/2016 and finished unplaced when carrying a weight of 09-02, which was not to dissimilar to the one it has today.

So moving on a bit and a quick mention about this Flat race and jockey Franny Norton who in these types of races over the last twelve months has not performed with finesse, only an average looking strike rate of 14% has been recorded.

This runner could very well have what is known as bog standard form and winners tend to be a shade better thought of than that but its by no means totally out of it but would appear to need a bit of luck to win here today.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Above Average

Suitcase ‘N’ Taxi

Suitcase ‘N’ Taxi (GB) is a 2yo from the Tim Easterby stable who has some excellent form on which to recommend a bet for this 6f race which taking part here at Thirsk.

So why would Jadwiz give this one an excellent rating and chance of taking the first prize? Well first reason, which may not be apparent to everyone is the fact it has the same piece of headgear which was used when gaining an excellent result at Catterick (Gb) in a UK Flat race.

This runner out of the Tim Easterby stable has distinguished form which suggests that this would be one of the top contenders here today.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Above Average

Bourbonisto

Bourbonisto (GB) is a 2yo from the Ben Haslam stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 6f race which taking part here at Thirsk.

To win a race everything needs to drop right or at least have something that on which a runner could be recommended and in the case of Bourbonisto (GB) the one thing it does have in its favour is the weight. When it raced at Doncaster (Gb) on the 14/05/2016 it carried 08-12 to fill the 2nd spot which was a similar weight as today and looks adequate.

So here we are with Bourbonisto (GB) ready to take part in a Handicap race which may not be the best choice due to the fact that over the last year its current trainer has only hit the winners enclosure 9% of the time which is only a moderate success rate.

This runner only looks to have middling form and would not really be seen as one of the leading lights but more middle of the road for this event, however could possible reward an each way type of bet.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Below Average

Bear Essentials

Bear Essentials (IRE) is a 2yo from the David O’Meara stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 6f race which taking part here at Thirsk.

Recent form with the right weight is what this one can boast but digging a little deeper we can see that its recent race at Ayr (Gb) may not of been as good as first thought and overall form does not seem to be good enough.

Has below average form for today’s chosen jockey when Daniel Tudhope has ridden in races over 6f and the recent results show an unproductive 5% strike rate.

With some bush-league performances and a below par rating I don’t think this one should be on many short lists and would not think the winners prize will be going back to the David O’Meara yard.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Average

Debt To Society

Debt To Society (IRE) is a 9yo from the Richard Ford stable who has some excellent form on which to recommend a bet for this 23f race which taking part here at Uttoxeter.

Debt To Society (IRE) is one of the runners here that takes the eye with some outstanding performances to its name most notable of these I feel was when finishing 1st at Sedgefield (Gb) in a class 5 event the same as today’s which gets us off to a admirable start with our form studying.

Recent stats can be an added bonus when available and with this runner there are some notable figures for Moscow Society (USA) who is the sire, especially when racing over today’s race distance of 23f.

Looks to be one of the runners here in which an investment could very well pay off with an excellent rating and some notable form to its name for this Handicap event.
