CHELMSFORD RACECOURSE 7-20 Race Date 02/08/16 | Horse Racing

CHELMSFORD RACECOURSE FORM

Fuwairt

Fuwairt (IRE) is from the David Loughnane and would appear to be a talented sort and looks to have an above average chance here at Chelmsford (A.W)

So we know that this is a Handicap race so having a runner such as Fuwairt (IRE) on our side could be what we are looking for, after all it was this type of race where it finished 1st recently at Chelmsford (A.W) (Gb, so looks a runner who is capable.

This race is being run on a unknown course and the jockey Cameron Noble has some very good recent form on these types of tracks, in fact a splendid 20% strike rate.

This looks to be a good race and one in which Fuwairt (IRE) appears to hold a chance due to the talented form which has been shown in the past and could very well be worth a bet.

Ice Royal

Ice Royal (IRE) is a 3yo from the Jamie Osborne stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 8f race which taking part here at Chelmsford (A.W).

Recent form with the right weight is what this one can boast but digging a little deeper we can see that its recent race at Sandown (Gb) may not of been as good as first thought and overall form does not seem to be good enough.

The overall form for Ice Royal (IRE) looks to be unproductive or insufficient for a race like this and there are plenty of other runners to choose from.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Average

Firmament

Firmament (GB) is a 4yo from the David O’Meara stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 8f race which taking part here at Chelmsford (A.W).

To win a race everything needs to drop right or at least have something that on which a runner could be recommended and in the case of Firmament (GB) the one thing it does have in its favour is the weight. When it raced at Newcastle (A.W) (Gb) on the 26/05/2016 it carried 09-04 to fill the 1st spot which was a similar weight as today and looks adequate.

A few stats can help when making a decision about a runners chance and with Firmament (GB) we see it is out of the sire by the name Cape Cross (IRE) who’s offspring have a passable recent strike rate of 14% when running in Handicap races.

Has admissible but intermediate form and would only be of general interest if the odds are in our favour which would mean an each way bet might be on the cards.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Average

Lazzam

Lazzam (GB) is a 3yo from the Marco Botti stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

This runner not only has tiptop form but has also proved it can handle a unknown course which it did in a distinguished fashion when racing at Great Leighs (A.W) ( on the 04/08/2015.

Looks to be one of the main contenders here in this race with admirable form lines to back up its rating would look to have a top-notch chance of taking this event and would be a worthy selection.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Average

Welliesinthewater

Welliesinthewater (IRE) is a 6yo from the Derek Shaw stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 8f race which taking part here at Chelmsford (A.W).

For this runner I think its best to look at its results for the last twelve month to try and make a case for backing it. Finished 1st in a race that took place on the 15/08/2015 which was a Handicap race, but with that said the form still looks below average.

Set to be ridden by Noel Garbutt for the Derek Shaw and is a 6yo which may be a problem because the jockeys 5% strike rate over the last twelve months when ridding a 6yo.

Overall form for this runner looks to be insufficient and substandard for a race like this and the best I feel it could do would be to possible be reach a place but its odds would need to be at least double figures.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Below Average

Mikmak

Mikmak (GB) is a 3yo from the William Muir stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 8f race which taking part here at Chelmsford (A.W).

Another runner who’s form does not seem to be good enough for this race and the only good news would be its finishing position in a race that took place at Ffos Las (Gb) when it carried 09-05 to finish 1st. This is a similar sort of weight that it is set to carry today so could possible run a nice race.

Could not be classed has having a great chance of taking the winners prize back to the trainers stable and other better candidate can easily be found.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Above Average

Strong Steps

Strong Steps (GB) is a 4yo from the Hugo Palmer stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 8f race which taking part here at Chelmsford (A.W).

What makes this runners form admissible is the fact it got a good result recently when racing at Chelmsford (A.W) (Gb when claiming the 1st place prize. Had a similar type of weight that day which it is set to carry in this race which gives Strong Steps (GB) on form a modest chance.

Today’s jockey is Marc Monaghan who it has to be said is capable in these types of races but on a unknown course their recent form is only average with a strike rate of 10%.

Form for this runner looks up to scratch but with better candidates in this race its overall chance could only be classed as admissible.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Below Average

Mustaaqeem

Mustaaqeem (USA) is a 4yo from the Sir Michael Stoute stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 8f race which taking part here at Chelmsford (A.W).

Taking into account the overall form for Mustaaqeem (USA) it would be considered to have a middle of the road chance as there does not seem to be any real factors which stand out. This is a 8f race and ordinary or passable would be the words I would use and it can be seen as more of an each way chance.

An average looking runner with adequate but unremarkable form for a race like this and there are others that are preferred and it could be an idea to look at some of the other contenders.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Average

Peter Park

Peter Park (GB) is a 3yo from the Clive Cox stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 6f race which taking part here at Nottingham.

Had a recent race at Leicester (Gb) and managed to get into the first three in a Flat event and looks to have fair form which looks typical for this type of contest.

So here we are with Peter Park (GB) ready to take part in a Handicap race which may not be the best choice due to the fact that over the last year its current trainer has only hit the winners enclosure 12% of the time which is only a moderate success rate.

This runner could very well have what is known as bog standard form and winners tend to be a shade better thought of than that but its by no means totally out of it but would appear to need a bit of luck to win here today.
