NEWCASTLE RACECOURSE FORM

North Country Boy

North Country Boy is a 8yo who looks to have some fine form for this Handicap race and today is ridden by Brian Hughes.

We need a runner that is competent in the class of race that it is running and in this case it’s a class 4 which means that North Country Boy falls under the category after putting up a fine performance at Southwell and while not the latest form does display its talent.

This is a Hurdle and one thing I noticed was the recent stats for today’s jockey which shows a 19% strike rate in these type of event which looks agreeable form for this runner.

One for your short list I feel and looks to have the form which would enable it to be in the shake up, there maybe others with higher ratings but this one still looks to have a chance.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Above Average

Rhymers Stone

Rhymers Stone is a 9yo from the Harriet Graham stable who has some praiseworthy form on which to recommend for this 20f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

This type of race looks as if suits Rhymers Stone who is a 9yo and has run some splendid races on which to recommend it can be added to a short list including at Newcastle in a Hurdle race, not the most current form but would described as commendable.

An accomplished looking runner who looks capable of landing a race like this, it has the form and ratings suggest that its not to far from the top which all adds up to make this a worthy entrant.

Captain Clayton

Captain Clayton is a 10yo from the Simon West stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 20f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

So what chance does Captain Clayton on its overall form? Well ailing would be how its form could be described with only one small glimmer of light being its race at Wetherby which while not recent it did manage to finish 1st in that class 4 event.

The overall form for Captain Clayton looks to be unproductive or insufficient for a race like this and there are plenty of other runners to choose from.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Below Average

Another Mattie

Another Mattie is a 10yo from the N W Alexander stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

The race type is often overlooked when studying form but can be a tremendous help, after all we don’t want to be backing horses running in the wrong events. With Another Mattie we see that there was a top-notch performance in a Hurdle race which took place at Ayr and while this may not of been the most up to the minute form it does show outstanding ability which can be put to good use here at Newcastle today.

Looks to be one of the main contenders here in this race with admirable form lines to back up its rating would look to have a top-notch chance of taking this event and would be a worthy selection.

Native Optimist

Native Optimist is a 10yo from the Sheena Walton stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 20f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

Sometimes headgear can make a difference but if we judge things on its outing at Wetherby on the 05/12/2015 its form on that occasion would be described as fair, ok may not be the most recent form but Native Optimist ratings look to be unexceptional.

Looking at the race type and here we see it’s a Hurdle and with only average or suitable recent stats for today’s jockey in this type of event it appears to have moderate claims here.

Has some satisfactory but run of the mill type of form and would not be to high on many punters lists but with a bit of luck may find its way into a place.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Above Average

Tap Night

Tap Night is a 10yo from the Lucinda Russell stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 20f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

Class of a horse can tell us what level a runner is capable of running to and if we look at the overall form of Tap Night we can see outings which are generally run of the mill. These include an outing in a class 4 race at Ayr a while back which would be described as suitable but not top draw.

The recent stats for Lucinda Russell tells us that the results are average or undistinguished if you like when their runners have tried to win Hurdle events.

Has some satisfactory but run of the mill type of form and would not be to high on many punters lists but with a bit of luck may find its way into a place.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Above Average

Munsaab

Munsaab is a 11yo from the James Moffatt stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 20f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

Below par form is what this runner looks to have and not one to have great faith, however did demonstrate a liking for a class 4 race when filling the 1st spot in a race at Cartmel on the 26/06/2016.

This event takes place at Newcastle we may or may not know is a left handed course and overall sire stats for these types of tracks is dime-a-dozen with a 5% strike rate.

The expression dime-a-dozen sprung to mind when going through the form for this runner and with a low rating this runner appears inferior.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Average

Bowdler’s Magic

Bowdler’s Magic is a 10yo from the David Thompson stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

Bowdler’s Magic is one of the runners here that takes the eye with some outstanding performances to its name most notable of these I feel was when finishing 1st at Fakenham in a class 4 event the same as today’s which gets us off to a admirable start with our form studying.

Looking at recent stats gives an up to date picture of what is happening and in the case of the jockeys record we see that currently over today’s race distance of 20f there is an exceptional 50% strike rate.

With some notable form to its name Bowdler’s Magic looks to be the one to be on for this 20f event and I can see no reason as to why this would not have a excellent chance.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Average

Perseid

Perseid is a 7yo from the Sue Smith stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 20f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

I looked through all this ones form to find something which could make it stand out and while there was a Handicap race it took part in at Sedgefield on the 29/09/2015 its performance that day only appeared to be moderate or standard.

Some types of events a trainer can have good stats to back up a runners form but in this case of Sue Smith Hurdle races have not really produced the goods over the last year.

Moving onto the conclusion for this runner and with only what could be described as acceptable or tolerable form this one can just be given an average chance here for this event.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Average

Tomkevi

Tomkevi is a 6yo from the Rebecca Menzies stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 20f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

So lets have a look at what Tomkevi has achieved in the last twelve months and one of the better ones was in a Hurdle race at Catterick when achieving a satisfactory 1st place. Brian Hughes rode a fair and passable race for Rebecca Menzies on that occasion and one would expect another up to scratch type of performance.

There is only some average recent form where jockey Tony Kelly is concerned in Handicap races and with a typical strike rate this runner goes down as having a basic chance.

This runner could very well have what is known as bog standard form and winners tend to be a shade better thought of than that but its by no means totally out of it but would appear to need a bit of luck to win here today.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Below Average

Litterale Ci

Litterale Ci is a 4yo from the Harry Fry stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 16f race which taking part here at Bangor-On-Dee.

What form does Litterale Ci have? Well the best way of looking at this runner is to take into account its last twelve months of form and by doing this we can see there was a race on the 20/11/2016 when it finished 2nd. On that day it was racing over 17f the same as today but it could be said that it was only a moderate type of an event.

Stats can play there part in form studying and I have looked to find some suitable results in which to sum up this ones chances. The best one appears to be when Noel Fehily is ridding a runner carrying around this sort of weight the recent strike rate is only average or run of the mill.

An average looking runner with adequate but unremarkable form for a race like this and there are others that are preferred and it could be an idea to look at some of the other contenders.
