DONCASTER RACECOURSE 4-40 Race Date 09/02/17 | Horse Racing

DONCASTER RACECOURSE FORM

Bring Back Charlie

Bring Back Charlie Gelding who for this race has Jamie Bargary on board which looks like helping here on ground which is marked down as Soft

This is a Hurdle race where over the last twelve months Bring Back Charlie has shown some valuable form and looked a skilled operator when finishing 1st in a race at Uttoxeter on the 13/10/2016 and although this is not what would be called very recent it is still worth considering.

A Handicap where Jamie Bargary is given a leg up to get the job done and if stats are anything to go by looks possible due to their recent strike rate of 18% in this type of event.

With some efficient and praiseworthy form to its name this would most likely be included in most short lists and who would I be to argue and I’m sure Nigel Twiston-Davies with have this one fit and ready to be battle.

Gambol

Gambol is a 7yo from the Ian Williams stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 16f race which taking part here at Doncaster.

Class of a horse can tell us what level a runner is capable of running to and if we look at the overall form of Gambol we can see outings which are generally run of the mill. These include an outing in a class 5 race at Doncaster a while back which would be described as suitable but not top draw.

A few stats can help when making a decision about a runners chance and with Gambol we see it is out of the sire by the name New Approach who’s offspring have a passable recent strike rate of 13% when running in Handicap races.

One of the runners who looks to only have moderate or average form but is the type that could run well and therefore may be of interest if the main contenders put in a below par effort.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Above Average

Baraboy

Baraboy is a 7yo from the Barry Murtagh stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 16f race which taking part here at Doncaster.

Another runner who’s form looks to be damaging is Baraboy and the only thing to write home about would be it came 1st in a Hurdle race, not recently, but was within the last twelve months.

With some discouraging results and below par performances this runner would be seen by most as having a less than average chance of taking the first prize here in this event.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Above Average

Episode

Episode is a 6yo from the Philip Kirby stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 16f race which taking part here at Doncaster.

Sometimes headgear can make a difference but if we judge things on its outing at Sedgefield on the 30/04/2015 its form on that occasion would be described as fair, ok may not be the most recent form but Episode ratings look to be unexceptional.

There is only some average recent form where jockey Thomas Dowson is concerned in Handicap races and with a typical strike rate this runner goes down as having a basic chance.

With some middle of the road performances and generally indifferent form this ones chances are modest and there are a number of entrants which look better suited.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Average

Back To Balloo

Back To Balloo is a 11yo from the Peter Winks stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 16f race which taking part here at Doncaster.

Has form in Handicap races which while not first rate they could be described as satisfactory which suggests that maybe a place is the most likely results for Back To Balloo.

Today’s trainer is Peter Winks and as far as the sire stats are concerned there would be an average chance of this runner winning here today.

Moving onto the conclusion for this runner and with only what could be described as acceptable or tolerable form this one can just be given an average chance here for this event.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Below Average

Fifty Bob

Fifty Bob is a 6yo from the Kim Bailey stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

This is a class 5 and if we forgive Fifty Bob its run recent at Uttoxeter, which incidentally was also the same class, we would have an exquisite and first rate choice.

The conclusion for this runner is that it could safely be added to any short list and could very well be the top selection to land the first prize here.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Above Average

Stepover

Stepover is a 6yo from the Alex Hales stable who has some excellent form on which to recommend a bet for this 16f race which taking part here at Doncaster.

So you are looking for a runner with excellent recent form, if that’s the case then Stepover fits the bill with its top-notch display at Doncaster over 17f when it got the 1st prize of £3k for the Alex Hales stable.

Sire stats are impressive for this age of runner and over the last twelve month have recorded a 22% strike which can be added to the first rate form for Stepover.

Would appear to have an outstanding chance is this race and form suggests a bet could very well be in order for this runner who looks first rate.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Average

Global Thrill

Global Thrill is a 8yo from the Bernard Llewellyn stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 16f race which taking part here at Doncaster.

Headgear is used in an attempt to get the most from a runner and can sometimes have desired affect as was the case when Global Thrill ran at Newton Abbot, finished 1st on that occasion and is not the most recent of form and looks to have far more to do here today.

This is a Handicap in which Global Thrill with the help of Robert Williams will attempt to take first prize, however with the jockey only having an inferior 4% strike rate over the last twelve months this does not look like it will happen, not today in any case.

With some bush-league performances and a below par rating I don’t think this one should be on many short lists and would not think the winners prize will be going back to the Bernard Llewellyn yard.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Average

Zephyros

Zephyros is a 6yo from the David Bridgwater stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

This runner would appear to be one of the top selections for this race based on a race it ran in at Bath on the 06/07/2016 when ridden by George Wood, finished 1st in that event and with the same piece of headgear on again today looks to be an added bonus.

David Bridgwater at Lingfield looks to be worth taking note of because it’s a left handed course and their past twelve months record shows they have some admirable results on these type of tracks.

This runner out of the David Bridgwater stable has distinguished form which suggests that this would be one of the top contenders here today.
