NEWCASTLE RACECOURSE 2-10 Race Date 02/03/17 | Horse Racing

NEWCASTLE RACECOURSE FORM

Newstead Abbey

Newstead Abbey is a 7yo from the Michael Herrington stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 7f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

Headgear is used in an attempt to get the most from a runner and can sometimes have desired affect as was the case when Newstead Abbey ran at Wolverhampton, finished 1st on that occasion and is not the most recent of form and looks to have far more to do here today.

We can look at today’s jockeys record when ridding runners that are out of the sire by the name Byron and we find that Tom Eaves has a substandard overall strike rate of around 6%.

With some bush-league performances and a below par rating I don’t think this one should be on many short lists and would not think the winners prize will be going back to the Michael Herrington yard.

Dutch Art Dealer

Dutch Art Dealer is a 6yo from the Ivan Furtado stable who has some praiseworthy form on which to recommend for this 7f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

So how good is the overall form for Dutch Art Dealer? Well praiseworthy would seem an appropriate word for this above average contender and this was shown in a race when finishing 1st at Wolverhampton in a 7f race which is the same as today’s distance, so form looks agreeable.

Another Handicap race here and now we will take a look at the jockey and their stats in these type of races which I can tell you for Silvestre De Sousa over the last twelve months is above average with a 17% strike rate.

Capable of putting in a superior run here and while this one is not at the very top it does have some praiseworthy form to its name which means it would at least be worthy candidate for a short list.

Free Code

Free Code is a 6yo from the David Barron stable who has some excellent form on which to recommend a bet for this 7f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

This runner not only has tiptop recent form but has also proved it can handle a unknown course which it did in a distinguished fashion when racing at Newcastle on the 04/02/2017.

This runner has a trainer and jockey partnership which recently has been working very well to create a top-notch strike rate of 42% which enhances this ones form.

This runner out of the David Barron stable has distinguished form which suggests that this would be one of the top contenders here today.

Shamaheart

Shamaheart is a 7yo from the Geoffrey Harker stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 7f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

We normally find that horses that have managed to finish 1st as this one did on the 28/07/2016 when wearing the same headgear would have sound claims but that race at Nottingham looked to be more of a run of the mill type of event.

We have looked at form and now move on to the recent stats for runners out of the sire when runner on a unknown course which an average strike rate in the order of 10%.

Form for this runner looks up to scratch but with better candidates in this race its overall chance could only be classed as admissible.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Below Average

War Department

War Department is a 4yo from the Keith Dalgleish stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 7f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

Headgear is used in an attempt to get the most from a runner and can sometimes have desired affect as was the case when War Department ran at Leicester, finished 1st on that occasion and is not the most recent of form and looks to have far more to do here today.

Connor Beasley who is today’s jockey has some insufficient recent stats which show when ridding runners carrying a weight in the region of today’s their strike rate has only been a substandard 6%.

With some discouraging results and below par performances this runner would be seen by most as having a less than average chance of taking the first prize here in this event.

Merdon Castle

Merdon Castle is a 5yo from the Ruth Carr stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 7f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

Merdon Castle did have a good result when carrying 09-05 and finishing 1st on the 06/05/2014 but that is not the most recent of form but you could say its acceptable.

With some middle of the road performances and generally indifferent form this ones chances are modest and there are a number of entrants which look better suited.

Equally Fast

Equally Fast is a 5yo from the Peter Hiatt stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 7f race which taking part here at Newcastle.

Another runner who’s form does not seem to be good enough for this race and the only good news would be its finishing position in a race that took place at Lingfield when it carried 09-01 to finish 1st. This is a similar sort of weight that it is set to carry today so could possible run a nice race.

The record of this runners sire is discouraging with only a 4% strike rate at this time of the year and with some below par results like these it would be an idea to concentrate on others in the race.

This runners overall form looks to be below par for a race like this but it could possible be worth an each way provided that it had longish odds.

Safe Voyage

Safe Voyage is a 4yo from the John Quinn stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

Exemplary Handicap form is what I feel this one can offer which will compliment a race of this nature and also enhance its chance of taking the winners prize back to John Quinn training yard. While its race at Thirsk on the 29/07/2016 is not the most recent it does prove it can be taken seriously.

Recent stats can be an added bonus when available and with this runner there are some notable figures for Fast Company who is the sire, especially when racing over today’s race distance of 7f.

Looks to be one of the runners here in which an investment could very well pay off with an excellent rating and some notable form to its name for this Handicap event.

Helmsley Flyer

Helmsley Flyer is a 7yo from the Trevor Wall stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

Has an excellent rating and looks a distinguished runner but no real form which can be used in conjunction with this race and so we will move on to the stats to see what we can discover.

Helmsley Flyer is a 7yo and runners who are out of the sire Baltic King are currently hitting a strike rate of 33%.

The conclusion for this runner is that it could safely be added to any short list and could very well be the top selection to land the first prize here.
