SEDGEFIELD RACECOURSE 1-20 Race Date 14/03/17 | Horse Racing

SEDGEFIELD RACECOURSE FORM

Newstart

Newstart is a 6yo from the John Joseph Hanlon stable who has some excellent form on which to recommend a bet for this 19f race which taking part here at Sedgefield.

The form for Newstart is outstanding and looks to have what it will take for a race like this, ok so its got the same piece of headgear on that it wore when unplaced at Cartmel on the 29/08/2016 but besides that the form looks top-notch.

The breeding side of things shows that Stowaway is the sire and when its progeny have run recently in Handicap races there is a first rate 28% strike rate.

With some tiptop form this notable runner form the John Joseph Hanlon stable would be high on anyone’s list and appears to be one of the main contenders in this event.

Ask Paddy

Ask Paddy is a 5yo from the Sam England stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 19f race which taking part here at Sedgefield.

With this race being a Handicap we would be looking for good recent form in this type of race and on first glance we can see that Ask Paddy did finish 1st in such a race but that result may very well not count for much.

The overall form for Ask Paddy looks to be unproductive or insufficient for a race like this and there are plenty of other runners to choose from.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Average

Noble Galileo

Noble Galileo is a 7yo from the Tim Vaughan stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 19f race which taking part here at Sedgefield.

Overall form shows that Noble Galileo who is a 7yo has run in Hurdle races before and has finished well but this form looks substandard and is not the most up to date and may be best to give this one the swerve.

What can the sire stats tell us about this runners chances here today in this Handicap race? Well in these type of event there is only a insufficient 4% strike rate, which does not sound to good.

The expression dime-a-dozen sprung to mind when going through the form for this runner and with a low rating this runner appears inferior.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Average

Captain Mowbray

Captain Mowbray is a 6yo from the Rebecca Menzies stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 19f race which taking part here at Sedgefield.

We normally find that horses that have managed to finish 2nd as this one did on the 27/10/2016 when wearing the same headgear would have sound claims but that race at Sedgefield looked to be more of a run of the mill type of event.

Looking at the race type and here we see it’s a Hurdle and with only average or suitable recent stats for today’s jockey in this type of event it appears to have moderate claims here.

This runner could very well have what is known as bog standard form and winners tend to be a shade better thought of than that but its by no means totally out of it but would appear to need a bit of luck to win here today.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Above Average

Sulamani The Late

Sulamani The Late is from the Dan Skelton and would appear to be a talented sort and looks to have an above average chance here at Sedgefield

Sulamani The Late runs in a class 4 race here today and while this Gelding looks an accomplished type there was a class 4 event in which it took part in when failed to make the first, ok so not bang up to date form but worth noting.

Over the last twelve months jockey Bridget Andrews has been doing a splendid job when competing in 19f events, this valuable form shows a strike rate in the order of 19%.

One for your short list I feel and looks to have the form which would enable it to be in the shake up, there maybe others with higher ratings but this one still looks to have a chance.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Above Average

Lochalsh

Lochalsh is a 6yo from the Katie Scott stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 19f race which taking part here at Sedgefield.

For this runner I think its best to look at its results for the last twelve month to try and make a case for backing it. Finished 1st in a race that took place on the 05/12/2016 which was a Handicap race, but with that said the form still looks below average.

Results for this trainer over the last twelve months is inferior to others when looking at the stats for Handicap races which means the strike rate of 6% looks to be dime-a-dozen.

Overall form for this runner looks to be insufficient and substandard for a race like this and the best I feel it could do would be to possible be reach a place but its odds would need to be at least double figures.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Average

Calarules

Calarules is a 4yo from the Tim Easterby stable who has some excellent form on which to recommend a bet for this 19f race which taking part here at Sedgefield.

Form for the runner is recent and also has the advantage that its run at Doncaster was the same type of race which give us an exquisite start to our fact finding mission and see no reason why Mr W Easterby could keep this one out of a place.

Some horses are larger than others and are therefore better suited to carrying one weight compared to another and over the last twelve month we see an excellent 25% strike weight the sires offspring have raced with around the weight that this one is set to carry.

Looks to be one of the main contenders here in this race with admirable form lines to back up its rating would look to have a top-notch chance of taking this event and would be a worthy selection.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Below Average

Bunk Off Early

Bunk Off Early is a 5yo from the W P Mullins stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 16f race which taking part here at Cheltenham.

Has an below average rating and looks a unproductive runner with no real form which can be used in conjunction with this race and so we will move on to the stats to see what we can discover.

A runner who for this race appears to have to much detrimental form to its name and I feel it may be wise to pass this one over.
