SOUTHWELL RACECOURSE 1-45 Race Date 16/07/17 | Horse Racing

SOUTHWELL RACECOURSE FORM

Spock

Spock is a 12yo from the Lady Susan Brooke stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 15f race which taking part here at Southwell.

Class counts the saying goes but in the case of its recent outing at Fontwell when racing in the same class of race as today’s the result only looked to be bog standard and on form it looks a place maybe the best result.

So moving on a bit and a quick mention about this Chase race and jockey Miss L Brooke who in these types of races over the last twelve months has not performed with finesse, only an average looking strike rate of 8% has been recorded.

This runner could very well have what is known as bog standard form and winners tend to be a shade better thought of than that but its by no means totally out of it but would appear to need a bit of luck to win here today.

Elkstone

Elkstone is a 6yo from the Caroline Bailey stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 15f race which taking part here at Southwell.

Another runner who’s form looks to be damaging is Elkstone and the only thing to write home about would be it came 2nd in a Chase race, not recently, but was within the last twelve months.

Sometimes a trainers record can indicate things that are not always evident when looking or reading through the runners form and one of these is that Caroline Bailey has only successfully make the winners enclosure 6% of the time with a 6yo runner over the year, which is below average.

The expression dime-a-dozen sprung to mind when going through the form for this runner and with a low rating this runner appears inferior.

Recent Form – Trainer Average – Jockey Below Average

Roman Numeral

Roman Numeral is a 9yo from the David Thompson stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 15f race which taking part here at Southwell.

Class counts the saying goes but in the case of its recent outing at Hexham when racing in the same class of race as today’s the result only looked to be bog standard and on form it looks a place maybe the best result.

Looking at the race type and here we see it’s a Chase and with only average or suitable recent stats for today’s jockey in this type of event it appears to have moderate claims here.

Has some satisfactory but run of the mill type of form and would not be to high on many punters lists but with a bit of luck may find its way into a place.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Above Average

Larkhall

Larkhall is a 10yo from the Mike Sowersby stable who has some average form which means that it good enough to fill one of the places in this 15f race which taking part here at Southwell.

Class of a horse can tell us what level a runner is capable of running to and if we look at the overall form of Larkhall we can see outings which are generally run of the mill. These include an outing in a class 5 race at Southwell a while back which would be described as suitable but not top draw.

Looking at the race type and here we see it’s a Chase and with only average or suitable recent stats for today’s jockey in this type of event it appears to have moderate claims here.

This runner only looks to have middling form and would not really be seen as one of the leading lights but more middle of the road for this event, however could possible reward an each way type of bet.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Average

Alices Man

Alices Man is a 7yo from the John Patrick Ryan stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 15f race which taking part here at Southwell.

Has an below average rating and looks a unproductive runner with no real form which can be used in conjunction with this race and so we will move on to the stats to see what we can discover.

This runner is a 7yo which means when looking at the sire stats we can see a detrimental strike rate of only 5% for the offspring who race as a 7yo.

Does not look to be one of the fancied runners on the form which has come to light and for all intense and purpose Alices Man would be classed as having a below average chance.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Above Average

Agentleman

Agentleman is a 7yo from the Evan Williams stable who has some praiseworthy form on which to recommend for this 15f race which taking part here at Southwell.

This type of race looks as if suits Agentleman who is a 7yo and has run some splendid races on which to recommend it can be added to a short list including at Huntingdon in a Chase race, not the most current form but would described as commendable.

Sire stats now and recent ones show a fine 20% strike rate when running in Chase event which us some above average form and stats.

This looks to be a good race and one in which Agentleman appears to hold a chance due to the talented form which has been shown in the past and could very well be worth a bet.

Aces Over Eights

Aces Over Eights is a 8yo from the Kerry Lee stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

The race type is often overlooked when studying form but can be a tremendous help, after all we don’t want to be backing horses running in the wrong events. With Aces Over Eights we see that there was a top-notch performance in a Chase race which took place at Towcester and while this may not of been the most up to the minute form it does show outstanding ability which can be put to good use here at Southwell today.

Taking breeding into account can get us that extra price of information required in which to make a decision and in this case the sire Old Vic has some outstanding results when Richard Johnson has been ridding, these stats show a 38% strike rate.

Looks to be one of the main contenders here in this race with admirable form lines to back up its rating would look to have a top-notch chance of taking this event and would be a worthy selection.

Recent Form – Trainer Above Average – Jockey Average

Saffron Prince

Saffron Prince is a 9yo from the David Bridgwater stable who has some unproductive form and does not look to be up to this 15f race which taking part here at Southwell.

Overall form for Saffron Prince is generally unproductive and inferior to others in this race and while it has some reasonable results over this distance namely when finishing 1st on the 24/01/2015 it would be seen as more of a each way or long shot.

Could not be classed has having a great chance of taking the winners prize back to the trainers stable and other better candidate can easily be found.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Below Average

The Way You Dance

The Way You Dance is a 5yo from the Neil Mulholland stable who has some excellent form on which to recommend a bet for this 15f race which taking part here at Southwell.

So how can we find a winning approach in this race? Well one of the things I have noticed with this runner is that the was the exquisite display put up at Wolverhampton which at first glance may not show too much, but that course and this are both left handed courses which means we have a excellent base on which to proceed.

This runner has a trainer and jockey partnership which recently has been working very well to create a top-notch strike rate of 25% which enhances this ones form.

One of the main candidates in this event and appears to have what would be called a first rate chance based on the Jadwiz rating and other factors.

Recent Form – Trainer Below Average – Jockey Above Average

Cesar Et Rosalie

Cesar Et Rosalie is a 5yo from the Neil Mulholland stable who looks to have an excellent chance on form and ratings.

Some horses can handle carrying large loads while other can’t so if we can find an excellent run where there were similar weights were involved it would be an valuable extra bonus and in this case we need to look no further than its outing at Lingfield when placed 1st.

Would appear to have an outstanding chance is this race and form suggests a bet could very well be in order for this runner who looks first rate.
